Parent Evaluation Day: Tiny Feet, Big Feedback ( in Oceanside, CA)
There’s nothing quite like seeing your product out in the real world—especially when that world includes wobbly first steps, playground adventures, and parents who don’t miss a thing.
We recently hosted our very first Parent Evaluation Day for Waves & Arrows, and it turned out to be one of the most valuable (and honestly, heart-melting) experiences we’ve had so far.
The Real Test: Babies in Motion
We invited parents and their little ones to try out our shoes in a natural setting—think grass, sand, sidewalks, and plenty of climbing, crawling, and exploring.
And the verdict?
The kids didn’t want to take them off.
That’s always the first sign we’re doing something right.
- Babies crawled comfortably without slipping
- Early walkers stayed steady on their feet
- No tugging, no fussing, no “get these off me” meltdowns
Just happy little explorers doing their thing.

👀 What Parents Noticed (and Told Us Honestly)
Parents came ready to observe—and we encouraged full honesty. No sugarcoating.
Here’s what stood out to them:
- “They actually stay on!”
- “These feel so soft… like socks, but better.”
- “I love that they’re flexible—my baby can still move naturally.”
- “Finally something that doesn’t feel stiff or bulky.”
But the most important feedback?
👉 Practicality matters just as much as comfort.
And that’s where things got really interesting.
🔧 What We Improved
Watching real parents use the shoes in real time gave us insights no factory or design sketch ever could.
Here’s what we adjusted based on that day:
1. Easier On & Off (Because Wiggly Babies Are Real)
We refined the opening and elastic fit so parents can slide them on quickly—without a struggle.
2. More Secure Fit for Active Movers
For crawlers turning into walkers, we made subtle tweaks so the shoes stay snug during all that movement. Many DADs actually wanted ALL of our shoes to have elastic bands, so we are in the process of changing that!
3. Better Grip Where It Counts
We paid close attention to how babies moved across different surfaces and adjusted the sole for improved traction—especially for those first steps.
4. Everyday Practicality
Parents want shoes they can grab quickly, trust completely, and not think twice about. That became our north star:
simple, reliable, ready for anything.
The Bigger Takeaway
Parent Evaluation Day reminded us of something important:
We’re not just making baby shoes.
We’re making something parents rely on during a really special (and sometimes chaotic) stage of life.
Every adjustment we make is about:
- making mornings easier
- supporting natural movement
- giving parents one less thing to worry about
🌿 What’s Next
We’re continuing to test, listen, and refine—because the best products aren’t built in isolation.
They’re built with real families, real feedback, and real little feet leading the way.
And if Parent Evaluation Day taught us anything, it’s this:
When babies are comfortable, parents notice.
And when parents trust the product, everything changes.
